While global headlines continue to spotlight waves of tech layoffs and rising uncertainty, the sentiment among tech professionals in Indonesia paints a far more optimistic picture.
According to our latest Tech Talent Confidence Index, developed in collaboration with Populix, 47% of tech talents in Indonesia say they have no concerns about job stability. In an industry known for rapid change and disruption, this level of confidence is both unexpected and encouraging. Local tech professionals feel secure in their roles, likely due to the steady growth of startups and digital transformation across the region.
Digging deeper, the data shows that 73% of respondents believe layoffs are very rare, and typically only occur during major crises or extraordinary circumstances. This signals a strong trust in employers and a general belief that the industry is stable, even amid broader global volatility.
Even more surprising is the fact that 67% of talents have never personally experienced a layoff. And for those who have, especially entry-level professionals, most reported being able to land a new role within just 1 to 3 months. This quick turnaround reinforces the notion that tech skills remain in high demand and that Indonesia’s talent ecosystem is agile and resilient.
For employers, this insight carries weight. In a market where job confidence is high, talents are more selective about where they work. They value companies that not only provide growth opportunities but also demonstrate transparency and stability. Building a culture that addresses these expectations isn’t just a retention strategy—it’s a competitive edge.
Indonesia’s tech landscape continues to evolve, but what remains clear is that despite economic uncertainties, tech professionals here feel confident, optimistic, and secure in their career paths.
