VP Engineering

Our client is seeking a VP Engineering to lead their engineering function across large-scale EPC projects in the oil and gas sector. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced engineering professional with a proven track record delivering complex, multi-billion-dollar projects in upstream, downstream, petrochemical, or related heavy industrial environments. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strategic project delivery experience, and the ability to manage engineering interfaces across licensors, joint-venture partners, and subcontractors on major programmes.

• Lead engineering strategy and delivery on large EPC projects, with responsibility for technical risk management, bid evaluation, and scope definition across complex multi-party engagements
• Proven experience managing engineering teams through FEED, conceptual studies, and full project execution on projects exceeding USD 500 million to USD 1 billion-plus
• Strategic exposure to growth segments including offshore and FPSO facilities, geothermal, petrochemical, bio-refinery, and low-carbon energy projects

Preferred Requirements

• Minimum 18 years' experience in design and detailed engineering for large EPC projects, with at least 10 years in engineering management roles
• Demonstrated success as Engineering Manager on at least one FEED and one major EPC project (USD 1 billion-plus) in oil and gas, petrochemical, or large chemical sectors; experience with conceptual, feasibility, and pre-FEED studies preferred
• Expertise in engineering risk management, bid and no-bid gate reviews for lump-sum turnkey EPC, including validation of estimating basis, scope maturity, and technical terms and conditions
• Proven ability to manage engineering interfaces with licensors, joint-venture partners, and engineering subcontractors on large multi-party projects
• Strong background in oil and gas (upstream or downstream), petrochemical, civil engineering, heavy manufacturing, or related EPC environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional qualification or certification from recognised bodies such as PII, PMI, or IAMPI
• Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline
• Experience in emerging energy sectors such as geothermal, bio-refinery, or low-carbon facilities is advantageous
