About the Role

This role is responsible for leading the company’s corporate legal and litigation function by providing strategic legal leadership across corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial transactions, dispute resolution, and litigation management. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and business units to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks while delivering practical, commercially focused legal solutions that support the company’s objectives. As a key member of the legal leadership team, this position plays a critical role in strengthening legal governance frameworks, overseeing complex litigation and fraud matters, and safeguarding the organization’s interests across all business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise senior management and business stakeholders on corporate legal, regulatory, litigation, fraud, and governance matters affecting the company’s operations and strategic objectives.
• Develop and strengthen legal governance, compliance, and enterprise risk management frameworks to support sound corporate governance and regulatory adherence across the organization.
• Lead and manage the corporate legal and litigation function by overseeing legal strategy, resource planning, team development, and the delivery of timely, business-oriented legal support.
• Manage complex legal disputes and litigation matters, including civil and criminal proceedings, fraud investigations, employment disputes, customer complaints, and corporate or commercial disputes.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments within the insurance and financial services sectors and assess their impact on business operations, governance requirements, and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and administration of contracts, commercial agreements, policy documentation, internal policies, and other legal instruments to protect the company’s interests.
• Provide legal support for product development and business initiatives by reviewing insurance policy wordings, riders, applications, forms, and related documentation while participating in cross-functional product governance forums.
• Represent the company in dealings with regulators, external legal counsel, law enforcement agencies, and other authorities, and oversee the preparation of legal correspondence, regulatory submissions, complaint responses, and official communications.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university; an advocate license (PERADI) and/or additional professional legal qualifications will be an advantage.
• Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.
• Extensive knowledge of Indonesian corporate law, insurance regulations, financial services regulations, dispute resolution, litigation procedures, and corporate governance frameworks.
• Minimum 15–20 years of experience in corporate legal, litigation, regulatory affairs, or related legal functions, preferably within the insurance or broader financial services industry.
• Proven experience in leading legal teams and managing complex litigation, fraud investigations, regulatory matters, employment disputes, and high-value commercial or corporate disputes.
• Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal solutions in a complex regulatory environment.
• Strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, insurance documentation, corporate policies, and regulatory submissions.
• Strong understanding of insurance products, policy documentation, product governance processes, and legal risk management practices within a regulated financial services environment.
