Head of Operations – Packaging

We are partnering with an established organization that is developing a new business in the packaging sector. This is a highly entrepreneurial leadership role for someone who can combine business development, strategic planning, customer acquisition, and operational setup.
The successful candidate will be involved from the early stages of business development and will have the opportunity to shape the manufacturing operation, including evaluating technology, equipment, production requirements, and the overall setup of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a new packaging business from strategy through execution.
• Develop market strategy, business plans, and commercial opportunities for the new venture.
• Identify and develop potential customers, with the expectation of bringing relevant market relationships and business opportunities.
• Build a clear roadmap for establishing a large-scale packaging manufacturing operation.
• Define the operational, technical, manpower, equipment, and infrastructure requirements for the facility.
• Evaluate manufacturing technologies and equipment from international suppliers, particularly from Europe and Japan.
• Work closely with existing production resources and determine the appropriate operating model for the new facility.
• Develop the business model, production capabilities, and operational processes required to scale the operation.
• Lead coordination across business development, production, technology, procurement, and other relevant functions.
• Provide market and commercial insights to senior management and support key investment decisions.
• Develop relationships with strategic customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Support the development of the company's corporate communication and external business positioning.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in business development, operations, commercial, or general management.
• Strong experience within packaging, corrugated packaging, paper, flexible packaging, or related manufacturing industries.
• Proven ability to develop new business and translate market opportunities into actionable strategies.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the ability to establish or scale a production facility.
• Experience in business setup, greenfield/brownfield projects, or manufacturing expansion is highly preferred.
• Strong network within the local packaging, FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial customer ecosystem.
• Able to assess production requirements, machinery, technology, manpower, and operational infrastructure.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong initiative and ownership.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
