General Manager – Information Technology (Surabaya)

We are partnering with a large and diversified Indonesian manufacturing group to appoint a General Manager - Information Technology.

Based in Greater Surabaya and reporting to a senior executive, the GM IT will assume group-wide responsibility for enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, IT operations, and digital transformation across multiple companies and operational locations.

The successful candidate will inherit an established technology environment comprising ERP platforms, internally developed applications, third-party systems, and site-based IT operations. The role is to strengthen operational reliability and security while developing a practical roadmap for integration, modernization, data, automation, and technology-enabled business improvement.

This opportunity requires a commercially minded IT leader who combines broad technical credibility with mature leadership and stakeholder-management capability.

• Develop and execute the group's IT strategy, roadmap, governance framework, and investment priorities.
• Lead enterprise applications, ERP, internally developed systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, and IT operations.
• Assess the existing technology landscape and define pragmatic modernization and integration priorities.
• Ensure the reliability, availability, performance, and security of technology services across multiple operational locations.
• Strengthen cybersecurity, technology-risk management, disaster recovery, and business-continuity capabilities.
• Oversee business applications from requirements and development through implementation, support, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with business and transformation teams to identify opportunities involving analytics, AI, automation, IoT, and other emerging technologies.
• Establish clear technology standards, controls, KPIs, and reporting.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary IT teams across central and operating locations.
• Manage system integrators, software providers, infrastructure partners, and other strategic technology vendors.
• Build strong relationships with senior management, functional leaders, operational teams, and users.
• Drive organizational adoption and ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.

Requirements:

• Significant IT experience, including senior leadership of a broad technology function.
• Proven responsibility across enterprise applications, infrastructure, IT operations, and cybersecurity.
• Experience supporting a multi-entity, multi-site, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly complex organization.
• Demonstrated success developing and implementing an IT strategy or transformation roadmap.
• Strong understanding of ERP and enterprise applications; SAP exposure would be advantageous.
• Experience overseeing internally developed software, third-party systems, integrations, and vendors.
• Sound knowledge of IT governance, service management, cybersecurity, technology risk, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Exposure to data, analytics, automation, IoT, AI, or operational technology would be beneficial.
• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to communicate technical matters clearly to senior business stakeholders.
• Proven people leadership, organizational-development, change-management, and influencing capability.
• Willingness to be permanently based in Greater Surabaya and travel to operational locations when required.
• You are a well-rounded technology leader rather than a specialist limited to one IT domain. You remain technically current while operating strategically, and you understand how to modernize an established organization in a practical and collaborative manner.
• You are comfortable engaging with senior leadership, challenging constructively, developing teams, and converting technology investments into measurable operational outcomes.
