About the Role
We're looking for a Deputy Construction Manager (M&E) to join the MEP Project Implementation team on a large-scale data centre construction project in Kulai, Johor Bahru. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, under the Director (MEP), you'll take ownership of the overall planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical and electrical works — ensuring specifications, budget, and timeline are all met.

What You'll Do

• Manage project planning, network scheduling, and construction programmes for M&E works.
• Develop MEP design for turnkey and single-package contracts, in line with authority and employer requirements.
• Monitor and verify design and engineering documents for compliance with company procedures and engineering standards.
• Review design drawings and specifications, offering value engineering alternatives to improve services and installation methods.
• Identify and resolve clashes across construction elements, working jointly with other trades and stakeholders.
• Manage subcontractor performance and progress against the construction programme.
• Review and approve shop drawings and method statements submitted by contractors.
• Review the critical path and implement construction activities in line with the management programme.
• Provide technical support to the project team, liaising with owners, architects, local authorities, and consultant engineers.
• Monitor Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) compliance on site.
• Implement the 4Ms (methodology, manpower, machinery, material) across construction management.
• Coordinate inspection, pre-testing, and final system testing and commissioning works.
• Lead and guide team members, supporting their technical and soft skill development.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure, building construction, or related fields.
• Proven experience as a Manager specialising in the design and installation of mechanical and electrical services in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies and engineering design principles.
• Well-versed in BIM modelling, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar software.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred (not required): Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM); Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
