Job Responsibilities

• Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of production relational databases.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on database design, optimization, and capacity planning.
• Monitor database health through metrics, logs, and reports, proactively identifying issues.
• Build scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Troubleshoot database incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Enforce best practices around data security, backup, recovery, and archival processes.
• Maintain clear documentation covering database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
• Continuously improve database operations by adopting modern tools and best practices.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing relational databases in a Linux environment.
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, with deep expertise in SQL optimization and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of RDBMS internals including storage, replication, transactions, and capacity planning.
• Practical experience implementing high availability, failover, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Proven ability to support high-traffic, user-facing systems with a focus on stability and scalability.
• Good command of database security principles, access control, and operational best practices.
