Legal Counsel (Manager – Senior Manager)

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the organisation’s legal strategy in alignment with overall business objectives and operational priorities.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to manage legal, regulatory, and compliance risks effectively.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, licences, permits, and industry standards affecting the organisation’s operations.
  • Oversee data privacy compliance and advise stakeholders on data protection obligations and risk mitigation measures.
  • Protect and manage the organisation’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Provide proactive legal advice to senior leadership and cross-functional teams regarding potential legal, commercial, and operational risks.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documentation to safeguard the organisation’s interests and support business growth.
  • Serve as a strategic legal business partner, industrial relations, risk management, and crisis management.
  • Support risk mitigation initiatives by identifying and addressing commercial, industrial, governance, and operational legal risks across the organisation.

Key Requirements
  • Certified advocate with an active licence is mandatory for this position.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across functions and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to provide practical legal guidance and influence business decisions effectively.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required to support regional and cross-functional communication.
  • Proven people management experience is preferred, including the ability to lead, mentor, and manage diverse teams.
  • Strong in-house legal experience combined with prior exposure to reputable law firms is highly preferred.
  • 10–15 years of professional legal experience with exposure to corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational legal matters within complex business environments.
