General Manager (F&B/Hospitality – Surabaya)
We are looking for a commercially sharp hospitality leader with experience in banquet events, weddings, high-end dining, and multi-unit operations.
About the Role
The General Manager (GM) is fully accountable for the commercial performance, operational excellence, and brand leadership of the brand's Ballroom (premium banquet & event venue) and the brand's Chinese fine-dining restaurant .The General Manager (GM) is fully accountable for the commercial performance, operational excellence, and brand leadership of the two brands.
Beyond managing both businesses independently, the GM is responsible for building strong commercial, operational, and brand synergy between the Chinese Restaurant and the Ballroom—maximizing cross-selling, shared clientele, bundled offerings, and operational efficiency.
This role requires a commercially sharp hospitality leader with experience in banquet events, weddings, high-end dining, and multi-unit operations, capable of driving revenue growth while maintaining premium service standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & Revenue Leadership (Ballroom + Restaurant)
- Own full P&L responsibility for the two brands; Ballroom & Restaurant
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and cost efficiency across both businesses
- Develop integrated annual and monthly business plans
- Optimize yield through Event packages & menu upgrades, Restaurant private dining & VIP rooms, Cross-selling ballroom and restaurant offerings
- Ensure sustainable margins without compromising service quality
2. Sales, Marketing & Cross-Business Synergy
- Build and execute joint commercial strategies between the two businesses, including:
- Wedding banquet packages with dedicated menus
- Engagement, sangjit, and family dining tie-ins
- Corporate events with pre/post dining experiences
- Ensure the brand is positioned as a preferred culinary partner for Ballroom events
- Align pricing, promotions, and value propositions across both brands
- Work closely with Group Marketing on brand positioning and campaigns
3. Ballroom Sales, Partnerships & Vendor Ecosystem
- Lead ballroom sales strategy for weddings, corporate, and social events
- Manage relationships with Wedding organizers (WO), AV, production, décor, and entertainment vendors
- Ensure commission schemes, preferred vendor programs, and exclusivity arrangements are properly governed
- Oversee participation in wedding fairs and exhibitions
4. Operations & Event / Restaurant Execution
- Ensure flawless end-to-end execution for: Ballroom events (site visit → execution → post-event), the restaurant's daily operations and private dining functions
- Enforce SOPs across both businesses for Service standards, Food quality & safety, Vendor coordination, Risk and crowd management
- Maintain consistency of service excellence at scale
5. Team Leadership & Organizational Alignment
- Lead and develop management teams across: Ballroom sales & operations, Event production coordination, restaurant operations, Customer experience & client relations
- Set clear KPIs and accountability structures
- Foster a one-team mindset between restaurant and ballroom teams
- Build leadership depth and succession planning
6. Client Experience & Brand Stewardship
- Act as final escalation point for VIP and high-value clients
- Ensure a seamless, premium guest journey across: Ballroom events, restaurant dining and private rooms
- Protect and elevate the brand equity of both brands
- Drive repeat business and long-term client relationships
7. Financial, Governance & Strategic Oversight
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and performance reports for both units
- Monitor event costing, food cost, labor cost, and vendor expenses
- Ensure contract compliance, internal controls, and governance standards
- Provide strategic input on growth opportunities and new revenue streams
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 8-12 years of senior management experience in:
- Banquet halls / ballrooms
- Hotels (events, banquet, or revenue leadership roles)
- Premium restaurants or multi-outlet hospitality operations
- Proven experience managing both event-driven and daily F&B operations
- Track record handling large-scale events (200-1,000+ pax) and high-end dining
Skills & Competencies
- Strong commercial and P&L management capability
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership with ability to manage diverse teams
- Operationally detailed yet strategically minded
