Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and queries to support application development and business requirements.
- Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform query tuning to improve efficiency.
- Automate routine tasks (monitoring, patching, deployments) using scripting (SQL, Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Collaborate with software engineers and DevOps teams on database integration, migrations, and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Research and recommend database tools, cloud solutions, and best practices to improve scalability and reliability.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator / Database Engineer.
- Strong expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with at least one major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Proficiency in database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience with backup/recovery tools (e.g., RMAN, pgBackRest, XtraBackup).
- Familiarity with scripting/automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Knowledge of cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
